Andy Mast

Andy Mast was raised in rural southern Illinois within an Amish community where strong beliefs and faith are taught and practiced as a way of life. His lifestyle and upbringing directly influence his artwork. His love of pencil drawing combined with his passion for horses started as a very young farm boy. His preference to the raw medium is born from living a simple life on the farm where is most familiar with the simple gifts of life. Because of that, he feels an unexplained kinship with his pencil.

Andy has no formal art education. His rural area prevented him from the professional leadership he so longed for. With an intense desire to create, Andy figured it out on his own. His passion has flowed through the point of his pencil and today, Andy has successfully exhibited his work across the country.

He has won multiple awards including the first place in the Western Spirit Art Show & Sale at the Old West Museum in Cheyenne Wyoming and first place at the Sangre Art Guild’s 2015 Summer Show in Westcliffe. For four consecutive years he has won awards in the Fine Art Competition at Cedarhurst Center for the Arts at Mt. Vernon, IL. In 2017, he was featured in Cowboys & Indians magazine.
